Group shower anyone?

This past Tuesday a sprinkler head at the GVMH Warsaw Rehab and Wellness Facility blew covering the floor in over two inches of water.

Thanks to the quick response of the Rehab and Wellness Staff, Clinic Staff, Warsaw Fire and Police, H&C Plumbing, Ozark Protection, GVMH’s Engineering and Environmental Services the facility was able to serve patients the next morning as if nothing had happened.  All of those mentioned above pitched in with mops, towels and wet vacs. removed the water and began the drying process.  It’s amazing what a group can do when they are working together with a common purpose.

The sprinkler head that blew is located in the air lock and it is theorized that a heater in the ceiling got too hot causing the sprinkler to blow.  Staff described the amount of water pouring from the sprinkler head as if “a waterfall was in the ceiling”.  In just a matter of minutes the floor was covered and before the water could be shut off there was two inches of standing water on the floor and a stream of water running under the front door into the parking lot.

Even though we would have preferred the incident never occurred, it is comforting to know all of our processes worked well such as the automatic notification of the fire department as they responded in a matter of minutes without being called.  There were also lessons to be learned and we’ll use that information to be better prepared in the future.

Maybe a group shower isn’t in order but I’d like to suggest a group hug to thank everyone for a job well done!
